Downtown Berkeley Association Operations Manager Perty Grissett received a lovely note of gratitude from a restaurant patron who witnessed DBA Ambassador Nimota Jimoh doing what she has been so carefully trained to do: de-escalating a difficult encounter and helping to keep the DBA community as safe and welcoming as possible. Nimota is a highly valued Ambassador and sets a great example for the entire DBA Team. Congratulations, Nimota, on a job well-done and many thanks to Alisa for taking the time to let us know!

Hi Perty,

I want to share a positive story about one of your employees, Nimota.

On Saturday night a friend and I were eating outside at Revival in downtown Berkeley. During our time there, a verbal altercation broke out between two men across the street. Nimota was nearby and stepped in to de-escalate the situation and did so professionally. Several of the diners sitting near us also commented on how good she was in de-escalating the situation.

Both men parted ways, however, one came back a couple of times to continue to talk to her. Each time she was responsive and courteous while she continued to clean up the street.

I went over and spoke to her after the activity and thanked her for her willingness and ability to engage the two individuals. I also shared with her that people like her help continue to bring business to the area - if people feel unsafe or that the streets aren't clean, they're less likely to visit the area. I want to share the story and my sentiments with you as well. I am very grateful for people like Nimota who are helping keep our community safe and clean.

Thanks,
Alisa
