Ambassadors educating and working with the unsheltered people in downtown Reno.

We are focusing on assisting the Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada with managing the Downtown Reno Event Center shelter and keeping businesses safe and clean.

Yesterday, you we started distributing bottled water provided by the City of Reno. And before that you saw us disinfecting downtown. We'll continue doing that as long as we can.

This week our marketing team worked with the amazing, locally-owned Reno Type print and design company to create double-sided fliers with COVID-19 information on one side and a map of all the public restrooms deployed by the Emergency Response Center on the other side.

We have a digital version of the map and flier at https://downtownreno.org/covid

The ambassadors put these in front of every bed in the emergency shelter and are passing out 50-pack pads to service providers and fliers to people who need this information.

The ambassadors also took some cues from grocery stores and chalked Xs on the ground in front of the event center that are 6-feet apart. This helped create a line leading into the emergency shelter that was orderly and a bit safer.

We also received cloth masks from Joseph Garton and his group of stitchers to protect people from the ambassadors and vice versa (we know that these are not N95 masks but any bit of protection is valuable for our folks on the street).

Finally, we are renting a car for two weeks so that ambassadors can keep an eye on businesses while they are closed down in partnership with the Reno Police.

Stay safe everyone.
